Should you decide to make the steps to move to Thailand, be prepared to undergo “relocation Chemo” or the social differences that make a difference in ones life, when he or she gives up their own cultural identity and adapts to another. If you move to Thailand, your number one challenge will be understanding and accepting major Cultural differences, and finding a career that will support your stay. The number one career that foreigners seem to utilize is the distinguished English Teacher. You can expect to earn between 800-1200 per month as a Teacher in Thailand. This income is the bare minimum I would suggest any Western man should have. It will cover food, and rent along with utilities and one night out a month. English Teachers are a dime a dozen, and rarely do the schools check for a college degree, some of which are fraudulently printed up along with illegal TEFL certifications. If you have a background in sales and scuba, you can be one of the many Americans whom open a Surf and Scuba shop. Good luck with all the Thai red tape when it comes to opening a business as a foreigner. Online jobs, or jobs that do not care where you are located can be among the best options for the serious farang who wants to live in Thailand. Working with affiliate marketing or Google Adsense are great home based jobs that allow you to live in any location. I have also heard of people getting jobs as a Debt Collector, and all of your calls are placed through, Skype Or Magic Jack, over the internet. Medical Transcriptionists enjoy can make a fortune, transcribing medical jargon, and submit all their work via Internet, allowing them to complete their 9-5 job abroad. If your willing to wrap your hands around learning Thai, than you could always work at the American Embassy in Thailand, this would allow you to live like a King as you would be still earning American wages, with the all inclusive American Taxes. Speaking of Taxes, if you are an American citizen you will be responsible for filing and paying taxes from work abroad. The next hardest part for some people simply is the food. I really don’t find this a problem, because in most major cities (Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya) there are plenty of restaurants that cater to Western and European taste buds. Visa requirements are not always met by expats in Thailand. This contributes to the all to famous border run, that expats do when their visa runs out. This is only truly a problem, when you live in the center of Thailand away from another countries borders. Simply cross over into another country and come back and your passports is renewed for another 1-3 months. In Thailand you can only buy the building, but never the Land, so be sure to research your sales contract before purchasing a residence. The move is a big one, but from what I have heard from friends and expats that live in Thailand, it’s well worth it. The laid back feel, and constant influx of willing women just never seem to lose their appeal.

I would like to know more about this. I don’t find American women all that stunning. I feel that foreign women are less spoiled and have a perspective about life, themselves, and you that will strength a relation. I hope you respond because I would really like to know if this can become reality. Thanks so much!

Well, it has become a reality for a friend of mine whom I advised. To be quite honest, my only fear is that working as a Teacher in Thailand will only get me by, and I will lose the ability to save adequately for the future, and when I become older this could present problems with health, even though health care is cheap in Thailand. My friend in America, could not hold a relationship for longer than a month, and the moments he would remain single would be for years at a time. He worked as a Casino Dealer in Las Vegas, and got fed up with the entitlement programs and settling for something that considered herself well out of his league, so he jumped ship to Thailand and got a job as a Teacher. The job was a rough start for him, as he needed to get a TEFL certificate and a work visa to stay in the country. You can live in Thailand without a work visa, but that means doing border runs to another country every 30 days. His job teaching kids is a challenging one, but now he loves it. His dating life is out the roof, and he just feels at ease with the slow relaxing pace of Thailand. Research TEFL or TESOL and teaching abroad and you will see that you can do this. The downside is the income is around 1000 a month, so with out another form of income, you will living paycheck to paycheck.
