The women of Thailand carry a horrible reputation. It is well documented in the Western world that Thai women are notorious for Gold digging. I believe there is some obvious merit to this argument. However, that merit does not always examine all the variables especially when it comes to logical comparisons. The first variable is socioeconomic. Where does the girl to be, come from? Did she grow up educated? Did she leave her family to work the bar, as a prostitute? Did this Thai girl, graduate and continue on in school to achieve a Masters degree in a Thai accredited program. Did she come from money, do her parents own a large amount of land. There are many questions that need to be answered before surmising a blanket statement that all Thai women are gold diggers.I have heard many arguments, the one that seems to negate socioeconomic conditions is the basis of Thai culture. The belief here relies on cultural specific ideologies that women grow up with the notion that marriage is a business contract and “good deed” to supporting the family for future financial success. The Thai girl gold digger does exist, however, this is not the culture, this is more like the economic status of the family in times of desperation. Western women do the same thing in America. If you live on the West Coast, money dictates in almost every “unbalanced” relationship. Define unbalanced you might ask? Unbalanced relationships usually consist of a man who is much older, out of shape, and generally in a relative manner of course, much less attractive than his bride to be or girlfriend. If you see this ANYWHERE in the world, you have most likely stumbled upon a relationship based on money. This is not always true of course, but if you visit Thailand, you will see a large amount of couples where the women is undoubtedly more attractive, younger, and in joyous spirits than her male companion. This is where I disagree from the nay Sayers on Thai-Farang relationships. I believe that if you choose wisely in Thailand, i.e. not a bar girl, not a girl who frequents the tourist areas, than you have already changed the course of your future relationships. You must visit social hot spots in non-tourist areas such as Hua Hin or parts of Korat. Stay away from the tourist traps and go to university hot spots if you like 21-28 year old girls. Keep your age in check. If you are 60, go for a 38-45 year old woman. If she is 23 and you are 62, use common sense if you plan on trying to keep her. However, women at the age of 40 in Thailand if single, don’t get the opportunities that young women get, and might truly fall in love with you. A 40 year old Thai woman looks like a 29-34 year old and is more than willing to jump into a stable relationship. Are these women interested in money? Yes. What woman isn’t? Is money always the underlying factor? No. I have met plenty of worthless westerners in Thailand who sit at home while their girlfriend brings home the money. How? Firstly, not all Thai’s are poor. My current girlfriend drives a Honda Civic, has an Iphone 4 and dresses in fashion at all times. She is still a student, and gets income from her affluent family whom owns a farm in Korat. Easy picks in Thai women exist out of desperation, if you go for the educated Thai girl in an affluent non-tourist area, you are half way there to finding the right woman.
